The Moorings Retirement Village: A Resounding Success
It's been just three months since The Moorings Retirement Village officially opened its doors, and the response has been phenomenal. With nearly 90% of the villas already under contract in the first stage of development, The Moorings is quickly becoming a sought-after destination for retirees. This remarkable success story reflects the community's appeal and the exceptional quality of living it offers when complete. The first wave of residents are expected to move in next month and are ecstatic about coming home to settle into their new coastal lifestyle at Moorings.
Sales Manager Margo Lombardi reports, "It is an absolute pleasure being involved with the selling of The Moorings, being purpose built and age inclusive for the well-being of the 60 years-young-and-over in mind. No detail goes unnoticed. You will have the complete freedom and independence to live your best life on your new adventure. You don’t have to give up the things you love, including your pets, you have the added luxury of your home and grounds being kept in pristine and well-kept condition whilst you enjoy your travel, socialising, relaxing or simply ‘at work’ .
I look forward to being able to assist you in your journey to experience the incredible life which awaits you at our Hopper Living latest offering, The Moorings."
Meet The Neighbours
Our incoming residents at The Moorings got together for the first time last week, there was lots of excitement as residents met their new neighbours with lots of new connections made and old connections refreshed. While the group includes some locals to Whitianga, others are making the move permanently, having fallen in love with the village, waterways, and community either across years of visiting or recently discovering our beautiful environment.
After a delicious lunch in the tranquil surroundings of The Lost Spring, the group took advantage of a Q&A session with Ruth Scandrett - GM of Hopper Living . There were questions about security, building progress, how the emergency alarm works and the biggie how they can connect to Sky TV (we already have a Sky dish in place and they will simply need to plug their sky box in and tune their TV).
Residents are looking forward to the next opportunity to "meet the neighbours" and hopefully by then some of them will be calling The Moorings home.
Sales Update - 50% of Stage 1 Under Contract
Since the official opening on February 23, 2024, The Moorings has been a beacon for those seeking an exceptional retirement lifestyle. With half of the first stage of 18 villas already spoken for, our community is quickly growing with residents eager to start this new chapter of their lives.
Looking ahead, our 8-10 year planned build program will see the development of up to 220 units, each designed with comfort and lifestyle in mind. The Moorings Sales Manager, Margo Lombardi, is thrilled to showcase what life at The Moorings can offer. From the exquisitely designed villas to the vibrant Whitianga community with its boutique shops, gourmet dining, and entertainment, every day is an opportunity for a new adventure.
“We invite you and your family to explore our beautiful location and the opportunity to make The Moorings your new home. Our show home is open for you to experience the magic first-hand, Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, or by private appointment.” To discover more, please contact Margo Lombardi at 021 972 591.
The Moorings Village Official Opening
On February 23, 2024, the Moorings Village proudly opened its doors, marking a significant milestone in our journey. Brenda and Judy, the trailblazing duo who were the first to join us, had the honour of cutting the ribbon, officially opening then Village to the public. The event was exceptionally well received by all who attended, with all visitors welcomed inside to take their ‘first look’ at the sales villa.
“About 5 years ago I stood on this site for the first time, and I was blown away by what I saw here and the vision that we had for what could be done on this site. It's a bit of a moment in time when you open a new village because there's an awful lot of work that goes in beforehand, you sort of pause, celebrate the moment and then you move on, and there's an awful lot of work still to do. I'm excited about The Moorings and how it fits in the Whitianga Waterways development here and the wider Whitianga community. But also it sits within the Hopper Living team and our four villages. Within our villages, we work hard to create a fantastic environment for our residents. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to where we are now. ”

The Moorings Village Registration Update
"We're thrilled to share the exciting news with the community, our latest Hopper Living Village has successfully completed its registration for the Moorings Retirement Village. This marks a significant milestone for Hoppers, and we're eager to showcase the unique offerings and values of the Hopper Living brand in Whitianga. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring our vision of comfortable and vibrant retirement living to life!"

GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE
A Year of Big Achievements
This year, more than any other, I am in awe of how much we have achieved. Somehow having dragged ourselves into 2022 after the previous two years, we have collectively, not only managed to get back to a sense of normality but thrive as well. This is due to the wonderful people that we have across the Villages, both staff and residents, who have found a special resilience and determination which they have applied to making sure that their Village is a place where they can celebrate and enjoy the lifestyle that our Villages are known for. Thank you to our teams who have made many opportunities happen and looked after our residents so well. Thank you to our residents for choosing to make one of our Villages home and contributing your life to the collective lifestyle that you all enjoy. May this Christmas season bring you rest, peace and joy.
Ruth Scandrett (& Snoopy)
General Manager
Country Club Huapai
The Country Club has grown exponentially this year, adding new villas and apartments, including the building of the new Bacchus block. Residents helped us celebrate recently reaching the milestone of 100 residents, we held a special event in the bar including our staff, residents, and some of our company Directors and shareholders too. Cabra and Hoppers came together, with Ian Boocock and Leigh Hopper, sharing their stories of how they first met many years ago, and have been able to create a wholesome personal and business relationship resulting in joining together in creating a feel-good project such as the Country Club.
The Anchorage Village
The Anchorage Retirement Village has been lucky to see the resident numbers grow, as popular demand for the garden villas grew. The Village is a buzz, the rain has done wonders to the flourishing subtropical landscaping, the additions of a new Village van, the man-shed, and the boat ramp and pontoon all installed and ready for the residents to use this summer.
We also have frames up on the new waterfront villas which will aim to be completed early next year. These new accommodation offerings will offer unprecedented waterfront views and access to the canal, unlike any other Retirement Village in New Zealand.
If you’d like to know more visit our website or talk with the lovely team at the Anchorage Sales Office.
Maygrove Village and Hospital
Maygrove Village celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, marking a momentous occasion for everyone
involved. We celebrated the entire month of August, hosting a series of events, gifts and giveaways, and
topping it all off with a Gatsby-themed party for our residents and staff. It was especially special to be able to celebrate with some residents whom have been living with us at Maygrove for 20 years, since the very conception of our much-loved Village.
In conjunction with our celebrations, we were pleased to announce plans for a refurbishment of the Village main building common areas. Designs have been finalised and are currently awaiting approval council. Maygrove Village is also honoured to be selected as a finalist in the People’s Choice Awards for Best Large Retirement Village and Best Aged Care Hospital. Congratulations to the Maygrove Village team for their recognition.
Merry Christmas
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Summer Holidays with your loved ones. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
